The work so far.......

The engine has had alot striped of it, the head has been completly striped down to the bare aluminium block, thouroughly cleaned, de-greased etc. it has had the inlet valves regrinded into it, New valve stem oil seals also fitted.
The block has been striped right down and is going to be cleaned and degreased shortly.
All other parts of the engine have been baged up and labelled for ease of assembly!
I have purchased alot of new parts for the engine including:
- valve stem oil seals
- cambelt kit
- headgasket
- crankshaft oil seals
- main bearings
- thrust bearings
- big end bearings
- sump gasket
- spark plugs
- cam cover gasket
- alternator belt
More parts will be purchased when the time comes for them!

- Saturday 15th May 2004
The block has been thoroughly degreased and cleaned inside and out. The outside has been sprayed black. The main bearings have been put back in along with the crank and crankshaft oil seals.
i have also bought a distributor convertor for the engine so i can use the original GTI wiring loom!
- Sunday 16th May 2004
The engine the car came with has been sold and so have other parts that werent needed on the car!
The fuel tank has been removed from the car, the engine wiring harness has been pushed through to the passenger compartment and will require cutting and making longer for the conversion.
The car is basically a shell with hardly any interior, exterior panels removed etc.
- Friday 28th May 2004
The pistons have been machined having 1mm shaved off the top to lower the compression ratio slightly.
I have also bought a full set of piston rings which were dearer than i thought even getting them cheaper than trade price!
I have taken the writing that i am having put on the back of my car to the sign writers which i have now got back and looks very good. i am not disclosing what it says yet due to the fact i dont want to give away what the car is going to be like!
- Saturday 29th May 2004
I have removed the rear beam and associated parts from the vehicle. also i have removed the fron subframe, struts, hubs etc.
- Sunday 27th June 2004
I have acquired a front end section of another 205 which i am currently removing unwanted sections from for the conversion. which is going to be put into the rear of the vehicle, also the boot floor has began to be cut out on the car.
I have also got another subframe and associated parts for the rear.
- Saturday 10th July 2004
I have purchased a Spesso racing competition headgasket for better sealing!
I had to buy Genuine Peugeot Piston rings for the rebuild due to not being able to find else where!
The back end of the car has been totally cutout and has the front end chassis sections placed in the rear ready to be welded up. Im definately impressed with how its progressed!
The engine has been basically rebuilded know, with the head refitted to the block and mostly only ancillary components needed to be put back on.
im thinking of what colour i should respray the car? its currently graphite grey but im thinking of Cosworth imperial blue pearl, subaru world rally blue or the latest skyline blue?
- Friday 23rd July 2004
The front chassis sections have been tacked in place in the back of the car with the mig welder.
when i get chance i will weld the frame in the back and fully seam weld everything up. my red 205 has now been sold, so when i get my money for it i should have enough to nearly complete this project!
- Saturday 07th August 2004
The rear sections have been welded in place now just needs to be completed with seam sealer.
The colour has been chosen and have already paid for the respray to be done on the car.
ive purchased alot of original body parts of the car to keep it original as possible.
Its going to be more rally inspired this car than for all out looks.
- Saturday 14th August 2004
I have recieved my Garrett t25 Turbocharger, i decided to go for this as its a good mid range turbocharger and as the car is going to be used mainly for acceleration this will suit the application.
Most of the bodywork parts have been purchased; New front bumper, front bumper valance, front bumper red trim + clips, Rear bumper, Rear valance, Rear bumper red trim + clips, All arch and door trim mouldings, All arch and door trim moulding red trims + clips, Rear tailgate top spoiler, Lower tailgate black trim and tailgate badges.
Also i have recieved my Helix paddle clutch which is going to be interesting to drive with!
- Saturday 21st August 2004
I have recieved my ignition retard controller which is a micro dynamics ems6 along with a manifold pressure sensor to go with it, ive heard its a good unit.
The turbo weld on flanges have arrived also for the fabrication of the manifold and the exhaust downpipe.
- Saturday 04 September 2004
All the welding in the back end is now completed, and has been seam sealed all the way around. I have sprayed the majority of the inside of the back just little bits left to blow in.
The engine has now been fixed in place, which fits nicely!
I have purchased a Greddy Rebic 3 injector controller, Large alloy intercooler, Sparco mud flaps, Blue wire and hose covers and two black Sparco front seats.
- Saturday 25 September 2004
The subframe plus associated parts have been bolted up along with the rear lower engine mounting, the rear struts and springs.
The wiring is proving to be a bit of a nightmare to solder as it takes forever lengthening it all!
ive ordered my uprated competition driveshafts and am going to purchase the wheel bearings on monday so the wheels will be on soon!
I have purchased a set of four extra injectors, which are from another MI-16 engine. i wont be using them all but 2 or 3 will be mounted in the inlet tract.
- Wednesday 20th October 2004
Ordered driveshafts still waitning for them to arrive haven't really done much to the car for a while as it needs to be sprayed up next really!
- Saturday 31st October 2004
Fitted driveshafts, hubs, wheels, etc. to back of car. all lines up fine, but will be taken off once the car has been resprayed to change the wheel bearings.
Most of the parts for the vehicle have been purchased just need to get the car sprayed to fit most of the new stuff.
- Sunday 14th November 2004
Front suspension all in and car basically ready to be transported to get resprayed then major work can happen!
- Tuesday 23rd November 2004
Ordered a Quaiffe LSD yesterday and a alloy fuel tank which i have got for a very good price! The quaiife was a little cheaper than normal but still enough!
The car is hopefully getting transported to get sprayed this week!
- Saturday 11th December 2004
The engine was removed and refitted due to the rear end being resealed and repainted, also the front engine bay was repainted. The outside of the car is yet t be sprayed as it is still having all the filler work and custom parts done.
I have fitted the Quaiffe ATB LSD and new diff bearings, which was basic!
- Saturday 15th Januuary 2005
The shell of the car has been sprayed now and the panels are going to be sprayed on monday 17th january!
Most of the vehicles wiring is complete now. Im thinking of getting adjustable suspension allround to help with the handling?
- Sunday 30th January 2005
Boot, bonnet and doors have now been fitted to the vehicle and mostly all have been built up. Its finally looking like a 205 GTI again! All the replacement original mouldings and trims have been but on the vehicle, The perspex rear screen has been fitted just got to cut in the vents now. checked the starter system on the car and it turns over fine, obviously it wont start as theres no fuel yet!
- Friday 11th March 2005
Purchased a few exterior styling parts for the car, Ecosse pheonix front valance, Pug performance sideskirts, pug performance rear spoiler and a custom one off rear valance. The front and rear valance have been fitted but the rest hasn't arrived yet!
The phase 1 rear lights have been fitted and work fine, just waiting to buy the clear rear lenses. the drivers side seat has been fully fitted to the vehicle with custom adjustable frames!
I removed the original rear perspex screen as it was to thin material and flexed to much!
started to plum in the fuel lines, the turbo is fitted with oil feed and return.
- Sunday 3rd April 2005
The side skirts and roof spoiler have arrived and have been fitted to the vehicle. The new thicker perspex rear screen has been fitted along with the vents cut into it.
I have purchased all the samco hoses for the turbocharger charge pipes. I have also purchased Avo uprated front springs for the front of the car, i have fitted the passenger front springs along with the wheels bearings for that.
- Sunday 24th April 2005
The project has hit a problem as i have found out the turbo will only flow about 220bhp! which is not enough for what i intended between 250-300bhp! so i hav purchased a new garrett t3 turbo, which i will also need to change a few other bits along with that!
The underside of the car has been fully undersealed and waxed to prevent corrosion. both sparco seats and harnasses have been fitted to the vehicle. heater controls have been removed and gauges have been started to put in there place!
- Thursday 28th April 2005
I have purchased a set of Wolfrace urban racer 17" wheels, which i am going to spray white.
- Thursday 26th May 2005
The custom stainless steel braided brake lines have been made for the rear, by Goodridge.
Im still deciding on spraying my wheels white or graphite grey, don't know yet?
The project is gradually getting there!
- Saturday 04th June 2005
Ive decided to spray the wheels white.
Ive purchased some new arches for the project to accomodate the 17" wheels, they are antares type same as i had on previous car. whilst i am doing this i am going to smooth the sides recesses.
All the gear linkages have been fitted to the vehicle, there not as smooth in operation as i would like but should be better when driven.
The exhaust manifold face has been milled flat for a god seal, just waiting for the t3 flange to weld on.
- Saturday 11th June 2005
The exhaust manifold has been built and fitted along with Turbocharger, oil feed for turbo, charge pipes off and into turbocharger.
Ive purchased some new arches for the car to accomodate the 17" alloy wheels, also i am smoothing the tailgate, buying a new rear valance, fitting a very large roof scoop and redesigning the door panels.
- Sunday 26th June 2005
All of the new body modifications have been completed apart from the roof vent. Body modifications include; Auto style bonnet, Antares arches, PPM side skirts, Completely smooth tailgate, Saxo style roof spoiler, Pheonix front valance, Pheonix rear valance, smoothed out quarter badges, smoothed out fuel filer hole, smoothed out sunroof, custom roof vent, out smoothed out passenger lock and smoothed out grooves in the top part of the bumpers.
- Wednesday 3rd August 2005
After many problems over the past month i have got the engine running, it still needs to be set up properly as its seriously over fuelling on idle!
The custom cables i had made were all the wron length so has to be sent back to be re made!
- Friday 2nd september 2005
bodywork 90% finished just minor bits left to do.

The vehicle has been sold After much hard work i have decided to cut my loses! It has been going on for too long and im afraid i get bored of the same project after a while! I will purchase a 205 in the future as they are excellent cars!
But for now its time for a new project!
